About Us
Village Sewing Center: A Half-Century of Sewing and Memories
For over five decades, the Village Sewing Center has been the warm, familiar heart of Sonoma County's sewing community.
Our story began in the beloved Montgomery Village in 1969, where the family business first opened its doors and earned the name we still proudly carry today. Those initial thirty years—from 1969 to 1999—were foundational. We were the go-to destination, offering the trusted Husqvarna Viking sewing machines, beautiful sewing furniture, a carefully curated selection of fabrics and notions, and providing the community with truly world-class, dependable sewing machine repair.
When we eventually left Montgomery Village, we found a new home for ten years at the Coddingtown Mall, keeping the needle turning through the decades.
A new chapter began on January 1st, 2008, when the business stayed firmly within the family. Master Technician and Nephew, John Furtado, stepped into the role of owner. With John at the helm, the Village Sewing Center has flourished, building upon the legacy of genuine customer service, maintaining our reputation for having a world-class repair department, and thoughtfully expanding the machine brands we offer.
For over 55 years, the secret to our longevity has been simple:Â everyone who walks through our door is treated like family.
Step inside our store today, and you'll feel that history in every spool and pattern—a continuous thread connecting generations of sewers. Whether you shop with us online or visit us in person, when you purchase from Village Sewing, you become part of our extended family.
