Description

Before patterns were drafted on paper, they were shaped on the body. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn the foundations of draping — the technique designers use to sculpt fabric directly on a dress form to create and problem-solve garment shapes in three dimensions. No previous draping experience is required.

YOU'LL LEARN

- Draping terminology and tools

- Pinning fabric to the dress form

- Working with the grainline on the body

- Draping a basic bodice block

- Creating darts and shaping through pinning

- Marking and removing a drape

- Transferring a drape into a flat pattern

- Truing and finishing pattern edges
